“A woman can hide her love for 40 years, but her disgust and anger not for one day” Arab Proverb

Write Or Be Written ...

The Anthology

Think The Almond meets The Vagina Monologues meets The Bitch in the House.

The Ruby Sandal is subversive, belated rhetoric. It’s a startling collection of memoirs on love and femininity, defiance and desire, restraint and renaissance, penned by a savvy, free-thinking generation of women of Arab, Persian and North African descent.

In this collective journal, these outspoken, world-wise women writers speak candidly, poignantly and affectionately of their sexual, spiritual and romantic lives with unprecedented conspiratorial candour, wit and charm. Through their writings - highly personal, sometimes anguished, often hilarious and always compelling - The Ruby Sandal finally does justice to the passionate, progressive women who have more choices today than at any other time in history.

For women in the wider Middle East, female empowerment doesn't begin in the boardroom; it begins in the bedroom, and in every woman's psyche.
